What Happens When You Run Out of Storage

We will try to let you know when you are close to hitting your storage limit. If no emails are deleted to free up space, you will not be able to receive or send emails from your mailbox until you free up some storage. Any emails sent to you during this time will likely fail and the sender will have to send the email again.

If you are using an email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird, any email you attempt to send will likely remain on your local device (depending on your settings and available storage space on your local hard drive). Depending on your email client settings, it may attempt to send these emails periodically. The email client will only be able to successfully send an email when there is storage available in your mailbox again.

Requesting a Storage Increase

We cannot increase storage on your current package or plan. If you run out of storage and cannot delete existing emails, we will recommend a higher tier package or plan for you. More storage will be made available if you upgrade your package or plan (subject to availability).

What You Can Do to Maintain Storage Space

We highly recommend making regular, local backups of your emails. This involves downloading important emails to your computer’s hard drive (or an external hard drive) and deleting the copy on our servers. Depending on the email client you use, you may be able to access emails stored on your local hard drive through your email client. Please read your email client’s documentation or contact it’s vendor’s support for more information.
