Rate Limits

To ensure our server resources and email capabilities are available to all our Business Mail customers, we implement rate limits on all email accounts hosted with us.

Sending Limits

A Business Email account can send a maximum of 300 emails per day. A day is 24 hours from midnight on mail server time, which is NZDT or NZST.

If you hit the sending limit for the day, you will no longer be able to send any emails until the limit resets. If you continue to hit the sending limit for several days a week, we may get in touch with you to discuss how you are using our email services and may recommend alternative email hosting solutions.

Why It’s Important

Rate limits are imposed for two main reasons:

Protecting IP Address Reputation

Sending a lower volume of emails from our mail server helps us build and protect the reputation of the IP address of our mail server. This helps emails sent from our mail servers to have a better chance of delivery and protects the IP address from being included in global blacklists.

Ensuring Resource Availability

As noted above, another reason we enforce sending limits is to ensure all our customers can access their email accounts to send and receive emails since less resources are used when a lower volume of emails are processed.
